Petite-Vallée, Québec, Canada, 2025
Situated on the Longue-Pointe of Petite-Vallée on the northern coast of Gaspésie, the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge is renowned across Quebec for its multidisciplinary programming and vital contribution to the region’s cultural life. Founded in 1983 as a venue specialising in live shows, it also hosts comedy, circus and dance performances. Unfortunately, the theatre fell victim to a devastating fire in the summer of 2017. Deeply affected by this tragedy, local artists, residents and businesses from all backgrounds joined forces in a large-scale reconstruction effort. Thanks to this remarkable collective mobilisation, the necessary funds were raised to breathe new life into this iconic landmark of Quebec’s artistic scene.
This inspiring wave of solidarity led to the launch of a new construction project aimed at preserving the theatre’s charm while giving it a renewed architectural and audiovisual identity.
Following a public call for tenders, XYZ Technologies was selected to contribute its expertise to this major reconstruction project. In collaboration with the many stakeholders involved, our team played a key role in the rebirth of this entirely reimagined performance venue, which now features retractable seating, by handling the complete audiovisual integration.
A particular highlight of the project was the first installation of a CODA Audio sound system by our team, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of our technical expertise. In addition to the main hall, several multifunctional spaces were created, including four videoconference rooms designed to facilitate access for external organisations and the public.
As with any large-scale project, this one presented its fair share of challenges, including construction delays. Thanks to this architectural and technological transformation, the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge is now ready to host its emblematic Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée once again, alongside a diverse programme throughout the year. XYZ Technologies is proud to have helped revive this emblematic cultural venue.
