Aligned with its goal of delivering high-quality experiences, the Théâtre du Cuivre in Rouyn-Noranda partnered with XYZ Technologies to carry out a major upgrade of its audio system. With a 725-seat multidisciplinary venue, this iconic cultural space serves as a key pillar of the local arts scene. After 30 years of use, the theatre’s entire sound system required an upgrade to meet the expectations of a passionate audience eager for cultural discovery.
Recognized for its expertise in audiovisual solutions, XYZ Technologies won the public tender for this large-scale project. This mandate required strong expertise and innovation to enhance the sound quality of this landmark venue.
To modernize the Théâtre du Cuivre’s audio system, the XYZ Technologies team had to combine innovation with logistics. The goal was to deliver a state-of-the-art infrastructure while minimizing interruptions to the venue’s cultural programming. The main system was kept in its original location, and new loudspeakers were installed to improve acoustics, particularly in the balcony area.
In this case, the client specifically requested equipment from the D&B brand, known for its high-quality audio performance. As a result, several types of loudspeakers were installed to ensure optimal sound distribution throughout the venue. Yi7P and 44S speakers were installed at the front of the stage to cover the first rows. ALi60 speakers were suspended on each side of the stage to serve the audience on the main floor, Yi10P speakers were mounted on the ceiling to provide coverage for the balcony, and Bi6 speakers were integrated under the stage to enhance low-frequency response. The entire system was complemented with appropriate mounting hardware and powered by D&B 40D amplifiers, ensuring a balanced and immersive sound distribution.
One of the main challenges of this project was coordinating the installation schedule. To reduce the impact on the theatre’s fall programming, the team worked closely with management to identify work windows compatible with the venue’s busy calendar. Thanks to careful planning and efficient execution, XYZ Technologies successfully implemented a modern audio system while minimizing disruption to ongoing activities.
