New technologies have a number of applications in the field of teaching. Educators are putting them to good use to experiment with new ways of transmitting knowledge to foster student learning and participation. The Faculty of Law at the University of Sherbrooke wanted to equip two of its classrooms with digital learning tools. These connected classrooms promote independent learning and active student engagement.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Sherbrooke now boasts a remote learning classroom with a videoconferencing system and an interactive learning classroom comprising eight connected stations.
XYZ Cultural Technology supplied and installed the audiovisual equipment in the remote learning classroom, which includes a recording and videoconferencing system as well as a control unit. Professors can broadcast their lectures live or record them for later broadcasting. XYZ also designed and installed the entire system of the active learning classroom, which has eight student stations connected to a central system. The professor can designate the content of the stations that will be shared with the rest of the class from a central console. The professor can choose to display different content simultaneously and can access individual student screens to make comments.
