Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico, 2011
The four-kilometre Zacatal Bridge is one of Mexico’s longest, linking the Atasta peninsula and Ciudad del Carmen. As the gateway to the Yucatán, it is also one of the country’s busiest bridges. XYZ Cultural Technology lit up nearly 2.5 km of the bridge, ensuring a unique visual signature.
189 waterproof, salt-proof, UVA- and UVB-proof LED lights were installed on the Zacatal Bridge. At nightfall, the light is visible for many kilometres, giving the impression of a colourful ribbon over the sea.
XYZ also designed, installed and programmed the multimedia installation on the Ciudad del Carmen dock. The open-air installation turns this industrial dock into a spectacular public space.
