Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 2025
The National Museum of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh has unveiled a temporary exhibition called ‘Minted Narratives: Legacy of Saudi Arabia in Coins’. This distinctive exhibition offers visitors an immersive experience entirely dedicated to the Kingdom’s monetary history. Through evocative settings and immersive scenography, it showcases the evolution of the values and symbols represented by Saudi currency over time.
The scenography unfolds through continuous animation that transforms the spaces. Projections come to life, sounds intensify and lighting changes, enveloping visitors in an increasingly atmospheric sensory experience.
Several audiovisual and interactive installations were designed and integrated to bring this vision to life, all with the aim of enriching the museum experience and immersing visitors in the Kingdom’s monetary history.
XYZ Technologies was involved in finalizing the technical specifications for the exhibition before undertaking a mandate covering all aspects of audio-visual and lighting, including the supply of equipment, its installation and system programming.
This content-rich exhibition features an animated film and an introductory projection that situate visitors within historical and geographical contexts, providing the broader backdrop to the collection.
There is also a large-format immersive projection room that traces the evolution of currency from the earliest minted coins to contemporary cryptocurrencies. An interactive touchscreen story invites visitors to follow a character on a lively treasure hunt.
Finally, at a creative station, visitors can virtually design their own coin, using motifs and graphic elements inspired by the exhibited collections, offering an experience that is educational, sensory and participatory.
